During our spring break we headed to Big Bear for the week and it snowed on us! We have been to the Big Bear Zoo before, but not in the snow! We bundled up and headed out to the zoo for the day. This zoo will take you about two and half hours to explore. Check out the video below to see all the cool animals they have!
The cost of the zoo is Adults $12, Children ages three to ten are $9, under age three is FREE. FREE parking also.
The Big Bear Zoo is home of animals that have been injured or orphaned. They have mountain lions, grizzly and black bears, wolves, raccoon, bald eagles and more. They have animal presentations daily at noon. The mountain lion above has a glass encasing so you can get really close to see how big their paws are! It was amazing hearing the wolves howling throughout the zoo.
By the bathrooms is a small room that you can get warm and check out the reptiles. I love that they have a stool in the room so I didn't have to carry my youngest to see the reptiles. The reptiles that they had were snakes, turtles, lizards, and more.
They also have a room for nocturnal animals. The room is dark. Prepare your kids before you go in to not tap on the glass or make loud noises.
I suggest planning to eat before or after your trip as they don't have a snack bar or places to eat.
In October they have Flashlight Safari's which starts at 6:30pm through 8:30pm. Each Friday and Saturday night you can take this unique tour and see the animals more active.
