We were so excited to be invited to Great Wolf Lodge and check out water park I can't wait to tell you about this resort! First let's talk about Fort Mackenzie. This is one of the best places to stake out your seat for the day if you have both big and small kids. It's close to the entrance, the bathroom is right next to it, towels nearby, life jackets and food! Perfect for everyone. Make sure you go over the rules with your kids with no running, pushing, or going elsewhere without telling you. If you are sitting at the front of this it is a perfect view for mom or dad to take a break and still be able to watch the kids go around. The lifeguards are set at the top of each slide and at the bottom.
The bucket rings as it is getting full to give your family time to go down at the bottom to get soaked. If you are in the middle of the first floor you will still get wet. We thought it would go over us and it didn't lol. You can stand by the side of the stairs and it will not get you.
My oldest loved the bucket of water coming down on him. My youngest not so much. Every time he heard the bell he knew just to stay at the side and it will not get him. This is a great photo opportunity if you can get your whole family to be at the bottom when the water comes down.
There are life jackets around but they are to be used at your discretion and if your child is coming down the slide the lifeguard might ask them to put one on.
