Do you watch the Home & Family T.V. show on the Hallmark Channel? If you haven't seen it, this program features EVERYTHING from DIY projects, cooking, guest interviews and so much more. I was invited along with several other bloggers to visit the set on the Universal Studio Back Lot to see for myself just how the show runs and participate in a couple fun DIY's as well.
To start, the Home & Family "set" is not a typical set but a true house (all for the ceiling, that is not finished due to the lighting that is needed for the filming). We got the full tour of the rooms and the exterior by the hosts of the show Mark Steines and Christina Ferrare.
We were greeted by the rest of the show's family outside, worked on a couple of DIY's and soaked up their knowledge in their specific areas of expertise. It was a delight to be involved in this group, we had a great afternoon "working" on our crafts and exchanging ideas, and let me tell you the personalities you see on air are truly what they are like in person, extremely friendly and warm. Watching the show is like pulling up a seat at your own kitchen table and having a cup of coffee with friends, just cozy.
A sampling of what they had in store for us, a clever Halloween DIY with Tanya Memme renowned lifestyle expert, Author of Gorgeously Green Sophie Uliano gave us all the fixing to make an anti bacterial hand scrub and the Beauty Bliss Guru herself Kym Douglas talked affordable beauty.
Tune into the show on the Hallmark Channel for tons of life hacks, recipes, celebrity interviews and creative DIY's for all occasions. It truly is one of the best variety shows out there without all the " garbage/gossip" filler and all the helpful daily life tips and real life stories we ALL can appreciate. So, little secret, planning on being in the Los Angeles area??? While on the Universal Studios tours, the tram drives right past the set of the Home & Family house and some lucky visitors are invited in during filming of the show and are seated outside in the yard to participate in the audience during filming. So who knows maybe next time you are on the back lot tour, you may just end up being in an episode!
