We were invited to The Irvine Railroad park last year to ride the 19th Annual #ChristmasTrain and to check out all the fun activities. It was our first time visiting the park for Christmas and we were very excited to see and do everything. I must say the park at night all lit up for the holiday was truly beautiful. A Huge undertaking I can only imagine getting all the lights up throughout the park!
The colorfully lit and decorated ride to see Santa Clause on the Christmas train is by reservation only. You can only purchase your tickets online at WWW.IrvineParkRailroad.Com
You can take your own picture with Santa or purchase one right after your time with the big guy! The return ride back to Santa's Village takes you through more beautifully lit trees and decorations and the amazing "Tunnel of Lights"
Apart from the ride to see Santa are the following activities:
- Cookie Decorating
- 2- Different carnival Games
- Moon Bounce
- Ice Fishing
- Story Time with Mrs. Clause (Free)
- Coloring Corner (Free)
Newly added this year to Santa's Village is the Christmas Tree Ranch. The trees were beautiful and they had a huge selection of species and heights. A great family experience to finish off your visit , picking out and bringing home that perfect tree! Check out their web site for discounts or sign up to their newsletter.
With making your reservation to ride the train to see Santa, there is little to no wait which is great for kids on the spectrum. Tickets have a boarding window of an hour (5-6/6-7 etc.) The ride itself is very visually stimulating and my High Functioning girl just loved this (her fav part of the evening) The line moves quickly to see Santa and as always the park staff are very accommodating and you are not rushed. Pictures are readily available to purchase right after your time with Santa, very well organized.
The Ice Fishing and other activities are quick so even when they are busy it goes very fast to get a turn and again there is so much to look at and see.
In comparison to the other events the park runs, this one is better experienced in the dark and does not take as long to participate in all the activities. Plan to be at the park for 1 1/2 hours to 2 to enjoy all Santa's Village has to offer including the train ride.
I would like to extend my thanks to the Irvine Park Railroad for inviting us to facilitate this review.
