We were invited to check out the Queen Mary Chill in Long Beach last week. This was our first time going and didn't know what to expect there. Everyone had told us how great the Ice Kingdom was, but I couldn't even picture how it would be keeping everything cold at 9 degrees inside the giant igloo. Plus for it being so cold inside would we really enjoy it? We came prepared with gloves, scarves, and jackets. Ready for the challenge. They give you parkas to borrow so take your time in getting it buttoned up so that you don't have to stop while inside trying to do it. Also you can take pictures inside, but don't leave your camera out too long as it is really cold and it can damage your equipment. Now check out the video I did in our walk through of the Ice Kingdom at Queen Mary.
Ice Palace at The Queen Mary Chill
Last night we checked out The Queen Mary's CHILL the Ice Palace theme is A Christmas Carol. Everything is made of ice and with temperatures dropping at 9 degrees it is a cool new experiences for families. Don't worry as they have parkas provided for the public!Posted by So Cal Pocket Memories on Saturday, November 21, 2015
The Ice Kingdom at the Queen Mary is really unique as everything is made out of ice. The story this year is A Christmas Carol. Knowing about the story helps when you go through recognizing the characters and story line. There is sound telling the story, but you don't really hang out long to listen to it as it is cold. At the end of the the walk through there are slides for kids and adults. And yes the slides are even made out of ice. Don't worry your kids won't want to stay there long as it isn't the fastest of slides, just once will do for the experience.
Snow tubing is next to the Ice Palace which is included in your price. The kids will carry the tubes to the top and they get a little nudge to come down. This is a nice break for parents as the kids will want to do it over and over again. I would do this early in your evening as it does tend to get crowded and the lines can get long.
The coolest thing ever was the Giant Rocking Horse that you can get on as a group and rock the horse yourself! If you can't get it going the helpers will get you moving. A really cool experience that we all enjoyed.
These musical performers were inside the line of the Ice Palace and Snow Tubing. They are also located outside by the Christmas Tree. These performers were really good. We didn't spend too much time watching them and unfortunately we missed the Christmas Tree lightning.
The last thing that is included with your price that I think people miss out on is the Polar Express 4D Experience. We almost missed it ourselves until we checked the map to see what was left to do. It is located at the Queen Mary. Go to the 2nd floor and then head all the way to the back of the ship. The show is about 20 minutes longs as they take clips from the best parts of the movie. The hot chocolate seen you can even smell it! You feel the wind and the train as it moves and even get snow! This was my favorite.
The Ice Skating Rink is open even if Chill is closed. It includes rentals of ice skates and if you are learning to skate you can get a helpful penguin to push along. The sessions are 45 minutes long. My son tried this and didn't do so well. He was disappointed cause he kept falling. But he kept trying which I was proud of.
The Polar Paintball was a long wait time, but my son loved it! I was hoping for more on this one for the price that it was. At least from my end I thought it would be more interactive. Again my son loved it and wants to do it again.
The Swinging Sleigh Ride is an additional charge, but worth it! This carousel is on rental from Michael Jackson's the Netherland Ranch. My son had a blast on it and mom got to sit down and take a break.
There was a lot more things to do that we didn't get to and missed. If you were to go plan accordingly and ask attendants were they are located as you can easily miss an item.
In this video you can see the Enchanted Garden with ball pit!
