Prior to the event we emailed the families with a craft they can do at home to make a western vest. My son and I made one, but that day he didn't want to wear it - go figure!
What you do is take a large paperbag and cut holes for the arms and head and then make a straight cut from the bottom of the bag to the top of the head hole. Then let your kids go crazy decorating it.
This game is Pin the Mustache on the Cowboy. I printed the picture (you can do that at Staples), cut out, glued it on black poster board. Then I cut out a mustache template and cut a few out. The parent had tape that they just attached to the back of the mustache and handed to the child.
Next game was Snake in the Boots. Again a mom made this out of cardboard! Got plastic snakes from the dollar store and the kids had to toss the snakes into the boot!
On Amazon I bought this Boot Pinata which was way easier than making it!
Just cut out a hole on the top and done!
Last game we did was Rope the Horse. I had this rocking horse already. I was going to use a hula hoop from the Dollar Store, but someone volunteered to bring the rope. Easy peasy! The kids took turns tossing the rope over the horses head.
For an activity we had a pony ride, petting zoo, this gold panning which was a pool, sand, water, gold pebbles, I spray painted old fish tank rocks I had, and pie tins that I poked holes in, next time I would use a stronger pan cause they were flimsy, but the kids didn't complain. Last activity was making there cowboy hat craft. Forgot to take a picture again!
It was a great time and the kids had a blast. If you would like to learn more about the school visit www.lvppp.com
