Tweens Rejoice, parents Prepare! R5 is coming to the @GreekTheatreLA

If I didn't know any better, I'd say I have a tween on my hands already. My daughter is almost 8 going on 16 when it comes to her taste in music. Being huge Disney fans, my girl (and most ALL girls alike) loves Austin & Alley on the Disney Channel. Well R5 is lead by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ross Lynch (Austin of Austin & Alley and the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach 2) his siblings Riker, Rocky, Rydel and friend Ellington "Ratliff". They are currently on tour promoting their sophomore release "Sometime last Night" and are coming to the SoCal area playing one of my favorite venues to see live entertainment, The Greek Theatre on August 23. Have you got your tickets yet? It's not too late.

Disney Live Mickey's Music Festival  Review

This was our first time experiencing Disney Live!  Being it was my daughters birthday weekend, it was perfect timing to see the show and wow did she ever enjoy it!

From start to finish the show was engaging and kept my girl entertained with the very popular stars of the show Goofy, Donald Duck, Minnie, and Mickey Mouse as well as the additional characters along the way.

The mini re-enactment of the stories  Aladdin and The Little Mermaid were a multi-media presentation including props, videos and performers along with singing and dancing to tell the tales, it took you right into the story.

 Aladdin

Aladdin

Aladdin with his flips and bounds and Princess Jasmine so gracefuly beautiful both flew around their new world along with genie and their magic carpet for a wondrous and mystical re telling of their story.

The Little Mermaid's sisters came and did a number with Sebastian and as normal for Ariel she was late And no where to be found!  Ariel was busy making her deal to be a human with Ursula so she could be with her Prince Eric. In the lagoon with the help of a few friends she gets just that and regains her voice too.

 The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

A Toy Story's Little Green Men, Buzz Light Year, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye joined in to interact and dance with the audience as well as play with large inflatable intergalactic planets that were bouncing around in the auditorium, it was an out of your seat dance party that had the kids laughing and dancing away.

The Toy Story Gang and the Whole Cast of the show

The Toy Story Gang and the Whole Cast of the show

The finale brought out all the characters in a last song and the show went out with a bang!

With a short intermission between acts, the performance time was perfect for children of all ages, so much fun and such a great way to get in a Disney fix for the kids!

Did you go this past weekend? If not There is still time to see the show!

Rounding out the Summer with @Lucky_Diaz! At the Levitt Pavilion in #Pasadena

Last night we were lucky enough to catch one of the last stops on The Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Bands tour in our area promoting their new CD and T.V show premiering this fall on PBS, Lishy Lou and Lucky too.  The band has been on the road for the last 2 months and performing around town the past week in conjunction with the non profit Levitt Pavilion group that hosts free concerts series over the summer for children, super neat stuff in my book.

Pre-concert activities were available for the kids, our girl made a streamer to use during the concert.  There was face painting, local food and community businesses focusing on children on hand as well.  The park is very tranquil with tons of tall mature trees, some lit up with twinkle lights. You had the option of bench seating or the grassy lawn in front of the pavilion to set your blanket or chairs, but who sits during a Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band concert right?

Making her Streamer for the concert!

The band took to the stage on time and had that dance party going in no time flat!  So cute they had a "dance area" sectioned off to the side, ha! The kids were right up front, dancing away!  As always the sound was spot on and Lishy engaging with the crowd like no one business.

Great show! Had all the Kiddos up on their Happy Dancing Feet.  Meet and Greet after the Show, Face says it all!

Congrats on the upcoming T.V show, it's finally time WooHoo!  Welcome home and go get um at the Grammy's guys!  Oh they are nominated AGAIN for best Latin Album of the year for their new CD Aqui,Alla..... We wouldn't want their other Grammy to get lonely, right?  Wink wink

Autism & Special Needs Pros/Cons:

  • There are no loud noises or scary costumes.
  • You can go at your own pace and rejoin the group if needed.
  • The singing is soft and the walking is minimal.
  • Since there is no "Seating" there is always a good spot for the children to see at one point or another during the show and the interaction level is completely up to you.

This is our second time I have attended A Faery hunt performance.  My autistic daughter did much better this time since she knew more of what to expect and was able to stay the entire show and party (first time we had to leave after the party started, it was a bit too much stimulation for her) Both times there was a group of approximately 130 attendees . If this may be of concern for you, I am told that the performances without the parties after tend to have a lower turnout and may be a better option for a first time out.  My daughter is a HUGE Faery and even Bigger Mermaid lover so this play was a treat for her indeed.

I would like to thank the entire cast and Especially Aunt Angelica for graciously having us once again and for keeping these performances going, for there is nothing else out there like it out in the open air, so interactive and free spirited like children are and should be!

LET THE TOURNAMENT BEGIN AT MEDIEVAL TIMES!

Medieval Times

We went to Medieval Times this past Sunday.  We had such an awesome time. I love these kind of shows.  I was nervous for Dominic (1 year old), he doesn't do well during dinner times, but I was very surprised at how entertained he was and most importantly how he sat through the whole show!

We are from Glendora and it only took us half an hour to get there.  We just to the carpool lane all the way there.

When you get there they provide you with a Knight to cheer for along with a crown.  Our knight was Black and White Knight!  You then get to take a picture with a knight, king, or princess.

They have a patio and a lobby where you wait for the show to start.  As they start calling the colors the crowd gets excited ready for the show!

1013777_595075780526996_49298791_n.jpg

The meal consists of garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, spare rib, herb-roasted potato, pastry and drinks.  Note, there are also Vegetarian meals.  As you know there are no utensils.  You eat with your hands.  I loved watching Vincent eat the spare rib.  My hubby separated  the chicken for him. We told him the soup was ketchup soup so that he would try it.  Also If you or your kids don't finish there meal they have take out boxes!  I made enchiladas with the leftover chicken I had!

As you see your knight and knight teammates you cheer for them loudly to win the competitions.  When your knight wins they receive flowers from the princess.  The knight then goes over to his area and throws the flowers to a fair lady in the crowd.

Then after your meal and as you enjoy your pastry dessert you watch the knights battle it out.  I loved cheering for our knight and had to watch out for my son.  He was going crazy with the flag and I almost got hit!

I loved this show, the food, and most of all watching my kids faces as they enjoyed it!

Disclosure:  I received tickets to see the show, opinions and experience is my own!
